Yi-An Bu Yi-An - 29th PlayGround Festival of New Works

I'm thrilled to share that my new play Yi-An Bu Yi An (Madam Ease is Not at Ease, 易安不易安) will be featured in the PlayGround Festival of New Works this May!

Yi-An Bu Yi An explores the controversial, rarely told story of the second marriage of Li Qingzhao—China’s most celebrated poet and writer. (Fun fact: Two craters—one on Venus and one on Mercury—are named after her!) As a longtime admirer of Qingzhao’s lyrical poetry, I’ve cherished the chance to imagine her voice, her inner life, and the brave, complex choices she made in a turbulent era.

I'm honored to collaborate with director Michelle Talgarow and our phenomenal cast: Rinabeth Apostol, Christine Liao, Mikee Loria, and Wayne Wong.

📅 Reading Date: May 12 at 7pm PT
📍 Location: Potrero Stage (and simulcast online!)
🎭 The festival also features three other exciting new plays on May 9, 16, and 19.

It’s been two years since I joined PlayGround NY, and I’m deeply grateful to Jim and the entire board for creating such a fearless and fiercely supportive space for artists to grow and take risks.
